{"id":2247,"date":"2022-06-14T01:07:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-13T23:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/?p=2247"},"modified":"2023-06-30T01:09:17","modified_gmt":"2023-06-29T23:09:17","slug":"yaounde-city-council-issues-final-warning-to-deviant-motorcyclists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/?p=2247","title":{"rendered":"Yaound\u00e9 City Council issues final warning to deviant motorcyclists"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFrom tomorrow June 8th, all commercial motorbikes found in restricted zones will be impounded,\u201d Luc Messi Atangana, Mayor of the Yaound\u00e9 City Council has announced.<br>He and the Senior Divisional Officer of Mfoundi, Emmanuel Mariel Djikdent have given a final warning to instigators of chaos in the motorbike sector.<br>The officials met June 7th, 2022 with leaders of commercial motorbike syndicates from all sub divisions of Mfoundi, as well as heads of security units, officials from the ministry of transport, and representatives from all seven municipal councils that make up the capital city.<br>It was established that in accordance with the law regulating the sector [Decree No. 2008\/344\/PM of 31 December 2008], the Yaound\u00e9 City Council, remains in charge of ensuring order in the nation\u2019s capital. Henceforth, defaulters, of laid down limits of circulation and instigators of chaos and incivility, will face the force of the law:<br>The decision comes after multiple measures to sensitise the commercial motorbike riders, and have them respect the law. \u201cWe have again made a call for cooperation, for them to respect laid down texts restricting circulation from certain zones, for respect of the Highway Code and that they should restrain from uncivil acts,\u201d the Mayor noted.<br>In the same light, the Mfoundi SDO, Emmanuel Mariel Djikdent reiterated the warning, adding that sensitisation will now go hand in hand with repressive measures against defaulters. His words: \u201cWe have seen that for a long time now urban disorder has resumed. Today we called on every stakeholder to sensitise them. We don\u2019t need to see commercial motorbikes in some parts of town.
