This was at the Terminus Mimboman Junction, January 04, 2024.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2 wp-block-paragraph\">The project consists of three stretches with a cumulative length of slightly more than 2KM. The target areas are the Carrefour Belibi \u2013 Terminus Mimboman stretch (1.4KM), Carrefour Emombo 1er \u2013 Ecole Publique Kondengui (234M) and the Carrefour Emombo 2eme \u2013 Essomba stretch (375M). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0006-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2868\" style=\"width:308px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0006-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0006-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0006-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0006.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3 wp-block-paragraph\">The 12-month-long project entrusted to SHEE SYSTEM Sarl consists of clearing the stretches as well as earth works, sanitation and drainage works, catering for hydraulic structures, multiple road development works, and the relocation of water and power networks along the concerned stretches. The project cost stands at 2.7 billion FCFA, funded exclusively by the Yaounde City Council. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe population has to be very disciplined because circulation will be restricted and reorganized such that all is suspended during working hours,\u201d explained Mayor Luc Messi Atangana.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-5 wp-block-paragraph\">Still within the context of giving a facelift to road stretches along the city, Mayor made a second stop at the Fouda neighborhood in the Yaounde V district. The recurrent floods the neighbourhood has been witnessing over the past years, will soon be a thing of the past.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-6 wp-block-paragraph\">Mayor Luc Messi Atangana: \u201cThere have been repeated floods in this zone. The road too will be repaired with the construction of a waterway to resolve the flooding problems faced here. It is called a culvert but this does not adequately describe the work to be done.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0008-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2857\" srcset=\"https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0008-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0008-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0008-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0008.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7 wp-block-paragraph\">The primary cause of the floods, studies have shown, lies in the anarchical constructions along the said river which empties into the Mfoundi. This causes obstructions in the waterway, resulting in floods when heavy rains increase the water level of the said stream.  Mayor Luc Messi Atangana warned that \u201cthe orchestrators of these obstructions have 48 hours to take off their structures occupying the pubic space in these marshy areas.\u201d Failure to comply will have the structures demolished to permit the construction enterprise carry on with the works.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0029-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2862\" srcset=\"https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0029-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0029-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0029-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/yaounde.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG-20240104-WA0029.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8 wp-block-paragraph\">Also in charge of the works, SHEE SYSTEMS Sarl will build a culvert twice the size of the existing structure, with a length of 15 meters.
