Fêtes de fin d’année: La Communauté urbaine de Yaoundé fait des dons à 430 personnes vulnérables

La 13e édition de la Journée de solidarité urbaine de la ville de Yaoundé s’est tenue le 20 décembre 2022 à l’esplanade de l’Hôtel de ville. Présidée par Mme Sylvie Melingui Essomba, conseiller technique n°3, représentante personnelle du maire de la ville, la cérémonie a connu la forte présence de centaines de demandeurs (associations de personnes vivant avec un handicap, personnes atteintes de maladies mentales, orphelins et veuves…).

Dans une ambiance festive, le personnel de la mairie et les personnes vulnérables ont communié. Un moment fort qui a précédé la remise des présents. Lots essentiellement constitués de denrées alimentaires (boîtes de sardines, riz, arachides, huile, tomate…) de savons et de vêtements, ils ont été remis à 430 nécessiteux. « Ne regardez pas la quantité, mais retenez le symbole, le geste. Il s’agit d’un acte de cœur du Maire de la ville, qui souhaite que vous aussi ayez de quoi fêter en cette période de fêtes de fin d’année. Vous aider est une philosophie du maire qui au cours des prochaines années sera l’un des axes prioritaires de son action « , a déclaré Mme le conseiller technique n°3, représentante du Maire.

Le temps de cette cérémonie, l’esplanade avant de la Mairie de la ville s’est transformée en cours de bonheur, où de centaines de personnes ont retrouvé le sourire. Il n’y avait qu’à regarder des personnes handicapées danser dans leurs fauteuils roulant au moment de réceptionner leur don. Un rituel qui dure depuis 13 ans à la Communauté urbaine de Yaoundé. L’année dernière, plus de 750 nécessiteux vivaient déjà la même expérience.

Festi Foot Y’ongola:
Yaounde City Council advocates holidays without youth delinquency

The second edition of the Yaounde City Council’s Festi Foot Y’ongola holiday sporting competition is underway. It was launched by the fourth deputy Mayor of the Yaounde City Council, Kwayeb Ghislaine, representative of the City Mayor, Messi Atangana Luc at the Yaounde military stadium on Saturday July 9, 2022.
“The City Mayor is using this as an opportunity to sensitise the youths. Mfoundi is the showcase of our country and whatever happens there affects the country. This tournaments permits us to keep them occupied and prevent them from engaging in ills like drugs and having unwanted pregnancies…” Mayor Kwayeb Ghislaine explained.
The same opinion was shared by Evina Avang Jean-Jacques, President of the sociocultural affairs and sports commission of the City Yaounde Council. “We are also taking a patrimonial dimension,” he revealed, adding “we honoured some of the greats who built Yaounde… we are going to dedicate ten trophies in the names of some of them.”
In the inaugural game, the sporting team of the Yaounde III municipality was thrashed 4-2 by their counterparts of Yaounde. Festi Foot Y’ongola 2022 will run through August 27 with games taking place in all seven municipalities of Yaounde.
Games in Yaounde I are being hosted at Camp SIC Nlongkak, Yaounde II at Cite Verte Creche Allemande, and Yaounde III at the military stadium. Yaounde IV games are played at Stade Malien de Nkolndongo Lycee Bilingue, Yaounde VI at the Acacias football pitch next to the council, and at the IRAD stadium in Nkolbisson for Yaounde VII.

Yaounde opens its doors to FENASSCO B 2022

The Mayor of the Yaounde City Council, Messi Atangana Luc has welcomed pupils from all over the national territory, partaking in this year’s National School Games Finals – League B, dubbed FENASSCO B.
“In the name of the people of Yaounde, I welcome you to the city on seven hills… I also thank Prof Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa, president of the FENASSCO B federal council for his constant solicitude. Mr Minister, receive through my modest voice, the gratitude of the people of Yaounde”. Mayor Messi Atangana Luc made these remarks at the FENASSCO B launching ceremony on June 20, 2022. This year’s edition is themed ‘A healthy and safe environment for sports without COVID-19.
“The government,” he added, “has upheld its engagement by organising the present edition of the National Finals of School Games League B 2022. The population of the city on seven hills, here is your FENASSCO league B games. It is now incumbent on you to manifest your exemplary solidarity during this sportive festival.”

The City Mayor also encouraged those partaking in the games to take time off and visit Yaounde’s amazing touristic and historical sites. He cited among others, the Reunification Monument, Monument Patriot, the National Museum, the Multipurpose Sports Complex, and the magnificent Olembe Stadium.
Delivering the opening speech, Basic Education Minister, Prof Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa urged all athletes to uphold the spirit of fair play, and make proud, the different regions and institutions they represent.
Mayor Messi Atangana Luc on the eve of the games, it should be noted, received the olympic torch, a symbol of continuity and togetherness. He was handed the torch at the esplanade of the Yaounde City Council, in the presence of the governor of the Center Region, and other officials.                   Giyo NDZI
