Health experts have drilled staff of the Yaounde City Council on ways to prevent health risks at the place of work. This was at an awareness seminar for the staff, based on possible health risks in the workplace and their prevention, today April 29th, 2022.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mayor Luc Messi Atangana said it was an essential activity, to raise workers’ awareness of how to make heathier choices as well as boost productivity.
This, he went on, is in line with the 136th Labour Day coming up on Sunday May 1st, with the theme ‘World of work: fight against Covid-19, protection of jobs and productivity’.
The session was based on four main themes, and coordinated by health experts from different domains, moderated by renowned orthopedic surgeon and traumatologist Dr Manga Alexandre.
The four themes dwelled upon included prevention of stress in the workplace, cardiovascular diseases and cardiovascular risks, culture of safety within organizations, and osteoarticular pathogens.
They were interspersed with question and answer sessions, permitting council staff to have their doubts cleared and worries responded to.
